The RTS-1 Ronnie Simmons signature pedal was envisioned and designed in conjunction with the man, Ronnie Simmons himself ! As Ronnie only uses a few pedals, (one of which is the Mozztronics GD-1 Bonebreaker), we looked at Ronnies favourite pedals and combined them into one signature unit. The internal effects are ordered in the same way as Ronnie has them on his own pedal board.

First in the chain is the BLOOD section, This is Ronnie’s two favourite “modes” from the Mozztronics GD-1 Bonebreaker, selectable by the MODE switch. Switch up is tighter and more aggressive, switch down is more open sounding. Use GAIN, TONE and VOLume to adjust your sound. But Ronnie wanted more, so inside the pedal there is a jumper link, to allow you to change between three different sounds for when the MODE switch is UP, set the jumper link to TS to select TS mode, set the jumper link to 0CD to select 0CD mode, or set the jumper link to MOZ for the Mozz special mode.

Last in the chain is the THUNDER section, a BOOST to really drive the front end of his Marshall. We added a compressor that goes from light compression to hard limiting. This circuit BOOSTs the signal, COMPresses it, and we have output VOL which provides some make up gain after the compressor. Start with COMP on minimum, adjust BOOST up to the level you require (you can get some clipping here, so see what sounds best for you, we suggest setting this halfway), adjust COMP as desired, and then adjust VOL to get the boost level you want.

Both the BLOOD and THUNDER sections have their own true bypass footswitches.

You may have noticed the references to BLOOD and THUNDER, this is Ronnie’s tribute to George Young & Harry Vanda and the distinct Australian guitar sound they created at Alberts with his blood brothers in Rose Tattoo and other legends such as AC/DC, Stevie Wright & The Angels. To quote Ronnie: “Now I have the RTS1 Blood & Thunder, other than my tuner, I only need one pedal when I hit the stage. Blood in, Thunder out!”

Ronnie is a guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer from Sydney, Australia, who has lived in LA for the last 10 or so years. Ronnie plays with Faster Pussycat and Richie Ramone in the USA, and Rose Tattoo in Australia. He has also played with The Screaming Jets. Ronnie also composes and scores music for film and TV.
