Taipan

This effect is a compressor. It derives its name from an Australian snake and like a snake’s skin this effect is smooth and shiny. It’s a coat of gloss on your sound. Although designed for electric guitar, the Taipan will also create a beautiful sheen on pedal steel guitar. The Taipan has very low noise specs and draws minimal power from a 9-volt battery. Each module is pre-set in the workshop to low compression and slightly over unity gain output. The compression and output trimpots are internally mounted on the Taipan module.

Wallaby

The Wallaby is a tremolo effect. It derives its name from an Australian marsupial known for its ability to hop or bounce along. It describes this effect well. Tremolo is an amplitude modulation circuit. It’s like turning a volume control rapidly up and down. A versatile effect and a ‘must have’ on most pedal boards. Depth and Volume are internal trimpots and the Speed control is mounted externally.

Dingo

A crunch boost with relatively flat response and a dynamic responsive feel. This effect is like pushing a valve pre-amp a couple of notches. An externally mounted gain control & internal master volume trimpot.

Wombat

The Wombat is fat marsupial, is hairy and lives in the dirt. A perfect description for this overdrive effect. Has an external gain control & internal master volume trimpot.

Lawrie Minson’s pedals have evolved from 30 years of professional live performing. They are true bypass, point-to-point wired, low noise, sound good and are uncomplicated. Once a guitar player has their settings they generally won’t touch them again. Simply adjust the internal trimpots and close the lid. The only externally mounted controls on Minson Custom Pedals are those you need during the gig. Available space on pedal boards is another problem. Minson pedals have two effects in each box and are available in any desired combination. Lawrie’s pedals feature die cast aluminium boxes and heavy-duty switches. They come standard with an external 2.1mm, Neg tip DC socket. Average battery life is 6-9 months. To extend battery life, always unplug the input jack.
