DefRyme (Melb rock band who’s 1994 album “Purekiller” reached #4 on the Aust Charts and boasted 4 charting singles) came in to record drums and bass for their first studio album in 15 years!  | Here’s a few words they had to say after the sessions taken from the bands website: “Damien Young at Pony Music turned out to be a great asset, and the drum tones are in Grant's opinion, the best he's recorded. "The drum room there is massive", says Grant, "The in-house kit I used there was second to none. I'm really glad we worked with Damien, ...the guy has vision, I can see that! It (Pony Music)is a frakken great place to work. I had a frakken ball yesterday! Quinn and Michael where also very happy with the outcome. "I reckon it’s about as close as we've come to getting really good tones at the outset", says Quinn, "These tunes have got the same kind of tones as the session we did at Alberts in Sydney all those years ago (Sanity B-Sides) which I think were the best recorded examples of the band. We have always had people saying ' You guys sound much better live... like, I do like the recordings, but...'. But if yesterday's work is any indication, I think we are well on our way to having some recorded versions of our tunes that will finally stand up next to the live ones. And this makes me very happy" |
Some new additions to the studio gearlist have just arrived - including 2 x classic NEUMANN U47 microphones, a pair of NEVE Mic Pres (currently getting racked and restored) and a pair of Grover Knotting reference monitors.
Everyone’s been commenting on the VIBE of the studio - the huge spaces and comfortable areas and the creativity and mood that reflects from the surroundings.
